1 〔歩く走るなどの練習〕 training to toughen leg muscles; getting one's legs 「in shape [into condition]; strengthening [toughening up] one's legs.
●退院が決まって私は足慣らし病院の廊下を歩いてみた. After being told I would be discharged (soon), I walked up and down the hallway in the hospital to get my legs in shape.
・富士登山に向け私たちは足慣らしに近くの山に毎日曜日登っています. In preparation for climbing Mt. Fuji we are climbing a nearby mountain every Sunday to get our legs into condition.
・マラソン選手たちはレースの前日足慣らしに 5 キロ走った. The marathon runners ran five kilometers the day before the race to get their legs in shape.
2 〔下準備〕 a warm-up.
●僕は入学試験の足慣らし模擬テストを受けた. I took a practice test to warm up for the entrance exams.
